Loch Maree
I had driven by Loch
Maree in the past but somehow never managed to stop to take
pictures in the way I had wanted. Here are just a few pictures
of the outstanding beauty of this area |

As you have already
seen in these pages there are many beautiful places in
Scotland but for me, Loch Maree is truly outstanding |

Loch Clair
It is really hard to
drive past these places without stopping. We had seen this
scene from the road and I walked through some very boggy
ground to get these pictures. |

Glen Torridon
These picture are
taken very close to the Loch Clair Pictures. In these pictures
you can see some of the ancient Scots Pine forest that used to
cover most of Scotland |

Loch Torridon
Looking over Loch
Torridon. The lines of buoys are oyster beds. The oysters grow
suspended from the loch bed so that sea urchins, starfish and
other oyster eating creatures won't get at them |

Between Loch Torridon and
Loch Carron and to the west is the village of Applecross. In
February 2008 Pete and I decided to visit there. The route had we
chosen was over the Applecross Pass otherwise knows as Bealach na Ba
(Pass of The Cattle). As we climbed the pass the weather really
closed in becoming blizzard like in a very short time making it a
hard drive along the steep winding road. At Applecross itself it was
raining and the pictures were not good but here are pictures of the
pass taken on the way out. |
