In 1992 the Tall Ships visited Merseyside. The biggest ships were docked in Alfred Dock Birkenhead. In these days before the internet it was great to meet and talk to people from all across the world. Two of the biggest ships, The Mir and The Sedov were from Russia. At this time the Berlin wall had not long fallen and it seemed that the Russian sailors were still not sure how they should act in this newly opened western world.
